Earlier this year we connected with a brand new Halifax, NS based company, Faire Child because of a mutual love for engaging children in endless adventure. Faire Child Makewear is inspired by the joy of a child engaged in the outdoors with total comfort and freedom, coupled with a transformative “Endlessly Reusable” model of environmental and social responsibility in childrens’ apparel. – Faire Child
During our time living in Southwestern Ontario, we made it our mission to explore as much of Ontario as we could as weekend warriors! Here are our 15 of our favorite, family-friendly experiences, in no particular order
Traveling with kids is all about balance, which really means making sure there is plenty of playtime! This trip was all about hands-on activities as a family and we had an absolute blast! So, if you’re visiting London, you have no need to worry about a lack of kid- friendly places to explore, learn, and play!
After spending three days in Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, it’s truly hard to describe the beauty and peacefulness of the area – even while traveling with the kids! Sometimes when you book a trip to a brand new location, all you can do is rely on Google searches to plan out your days. To us, this is an exciting opportunity to learn from locals or other experiences tourists, but it can also be a bit overwhelming. We started out with a long list of things we wanted to see and do, there is a tonne to do in the areaa, but we only had a short 3 days to cram full of our top choices! So, if you’re like us and and have never been to Bruce Peninsula & Tobermory, we’ve made it easy and layed out our entire itinerary, along with some tips we wish we knew during our trip!
When traveling, do you prefer to explore the city or more rural communities?
Waterloo Region is comprised of three cities and four townships, that together create a unique area that allows you to experience everything from rural farmland landscapes and historic towns, to city attractions and urban fare. We enjoy a little of both as we travel, and though we still have so much more to explore in this area, our 3-day stay in Waterloo is an experience I’d recommend to any family!
Is a visit to Canada’s capital city on your bucket list? If not, it should be! Our 3-day family adventure in Ottawa was certainly one for the books, and our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer! There are some trips that you can plan spontaneously. You can fly by the seat of your pants and still manage to see all there is to see, not so much in Ottawa. Instead, I highly recommend you have an idea of where you want to go and a decent schedule of what to see and do. Ottawa has so much to offer that if you visit without a plan, you may miss out on a lot! With the help of Ottawa Tourism, I’ve mapped out the perfect 3-day Ottawa itinerary that will ensure you leave Canada’s capital city feeling you’ve truly experienced it!
Last weekend our family spent three days in Hamilton, Ontario and made some incredible memories! “The City of Waterfalls” as some call it, is located less than an hour outside of Toronto, making it an easy day trip or weekend getaway! As one of the oldest cities in Canada, there is a lot […]
When I asked my husband and father to my kiddos, “So… What are we doing on Mother’s Day?” He replied, “going for a walk in the middle of nowhere.” He knows my heart. As simple as a nature walk is, some of our best memories are made exploring trails and taking […]
We love to support Canadian-made brands, and we aren’t the only ones! Many of you have been asking if we will be hosting any Spring markets this year… Truthfully, I’ve been avoiding writing this post, probably because each time I sit down to put my thoughts into words, I draw a blank, I’m not much a writer to begin with, but I suppose this post […]
During the summer of 2017, we sold most of our belongings, downsized from a 1,200 square foot home to a 200 square foot fifth wheel RV, and moved our family of four in full-time! Since then, there have been a few bumps in the road (surprisingly this isn’t literal) and we’re finding ourselves in search […]

Savouring is often a word we associate with food, an enjoyable meal, a delicious taste, or perhaps a salty snack – but it’s a word I feel perfectly describes soaking in a moment you want to remember forever. We live in a world where distractions are absolutely everywhere. Even while I write this I’m […]
“If happiness is the goal – and it should be, then adventures should be a priority” – Richard Branson As we approach the end of another year, it can be tough to reflect on all the things we wanted to do in 2017, but never did; I know it is for me. As our family grows (our […]
Immediately after I tell someone that my family of four (and a dog) live full-time in a 200 square foot RV, most commonly their first question is: where do you all sleep? Understandable. And my answer is Together. After all, like most things we do while living in a small space, we do together! My husband […]

Since sharing our tiny home story, one of the most common messages I receive incudes something to the affect of “I’m so interested in living tiny, but I just don’t know if I could do it!” The only advice I can really come up with is, give it a try! The reason: the experience just […]
“If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, but never the goal.” Naturally I’m a planner and I really like to feel prepared; I have a day planner that I seriously can’t function without. But, as we all know, life just isn’t that predictable. If you’ve been in this amazing little community of ours for […]
It’s been just over a month since we sold most of our belongings and moved our family into a 200 square foot RV. People often ask, “why did you do it?” with a look on their face that really says “are you crazy!?” Haha! So, I’m going to tell you why we did […]
With two active toddlers, and our family of four living in a tiny home, getting outdoors crucial for our survival… Seriously. It’s been one year since my Grandpa passed away. He battled a long twelve years with Cancer. Yes, that’s 12 years. With what began as prostate cancer, my grandpa had been through every test, every treatment, including several experimental trials, and ultimately spent his last couple months in the Holmberg House Hospice in Abbotsford, BC – A beautiful, warm, and welcoming […]
